Access to Media Education Society launches the ChARTing Change Art Contest on December 15th, 2020. This contest is designed to motivate youth ages 14-18 to create art that activates system change. It centers the visions of the next generation of leaders and encourages them to use different mediums to express their need for equity and climate justice. Prizes include an iPhone 11, iPad Air, Airpods, and a Creative Cloud subscription. For the full contest details, visit chartingchange.accesstomedia.org The ChARTing Change Art Contest is part of a broader program that gives youth multiple opportunities to exercise their voices, and create content that strives for equity and climate justice. Another central part of this program involves BIPOC youth working with the support and guidance of community-based mentors to make videos that shine light on social inequities. These videos will be distributed to schools through youth-facilitated workshops that use creative and critical reflection to explore the many forms of discrimination in our midst, and spark conversations about power, privilege and systems that perpetuate inequities.  The videos and educational resources associated with them will also be available online for free, or by donation. Check out chartingchange.accesstomedia.org to see all of the inspiring work created through this program.
