Get the Word Out's new project has just gotten underway. The folks who brought you 'Smut Glam' will be producing an ego-filled documentary about what it's like to perform, organize and live as the Drag Kings of Vancouver.
This project is currently being shot, so check the website for more pics and details of our tireless efforts trying to create a short film about big personalities.

Kevin Nanaquewitang brings you the story of Chief Arvil Looking Horse, the White Buffalo Calf Woman, and World Peace and Prayer day.
Inspired by the vison of Cheif Arvil Looking Horse, 19th generation keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe, hundreds of thousands of people around the world have joined the effort to bring about the manifestation of real and lasting peace on earth. Proclaiming June 21st as World Peace and Prayer day.
The White Buffalo Calf Woman brought to the people a Sacred Pipe, instructed in sacred ceremonies and on how to live a balanced life. While the world is full of desention and destruction, it is said that the White Buffalo Calf Woman would return once again. Since 1994, 11 white buffalo calfs have been born and the time is now to identify yourself as one who seeks love and compassion.
Kevin Nanaquewitang is a First Nations filmmaker and can be reached at kevinkins2002@hotmail.com

One thing we have done over here at Urban Outreach is a workshop called "DIY- on the fly". Last year we had 10 participants create their own film with about as much instruction as - make it simple, make it great. I held workshops on story development for 2 days and then everyone had one day to shoot and one day to edit. They worked with Meesoo Lee (Vancouver's most prolific filmmaker... hee) to create films which tackled issues from gender identity, boys in love, to just plain tackling…see pic above! Ahhh...sometimes I gotta love my job. Wrestling in 50 pounds of mud on a crisp November day.
Thanks to Ms Amey K we screened the video zine at Video In alongside the premier of her film Rise Up. DIY- on the fly video zine is still available for $5 if you shoot me an email.
In August, Urban Outreach will be organizing the second installment of DIY. I would like to bring 12 people together to make music and spoken work videos. This program is completly free and all you need to provide is your time and your ideas. Contact me quick if you're interested, cause we are fill'n up. If you got questions ... leave a comment.
Luv, rage and a bit of a smirk,
Hayley
