The Anti-Patti Screening

SUCK MY PATRIARCHY
alltogether-1.jpg
A space to debrief about the (dare i say the word..) Valentine's Day that shall not be forgotten...

Thank you all…
To the people who came I thank you for your support. To Video In for the space and the ever-so helpful volunteers and tech. To Jovian and my hairstylist for shamelessly spreading the word…to mark for working the table even though you were blue…to #none for dragging your gear out and spinning and dragging your gear home…to all those who posed questions. And to our Filmmakers for being inspiring, gracious and generous. It was a privilege to work with you all and I hope to again. Loreto, Brian, Lashen and Sharia, I wish you all well for all your future projects and I am glad you are existing in my world. Thanks for the Pat - Tree- archy…(hee) and the nummy cake. And of course to Deb who allows me to work for her and allows me to create these moments with people…you were missed.

Humm…anyone else?

Luv rage and a bit of a smirk

Yeah yeah, that was fuckin' WICK. It went as well as it could've. I was stoked that people in the crowd were so positive and supportive about what we were doing. The "got" it, what a relief! Thanks to all who were involved in this project, I learned and grew SO much. Y'all are un-freakin'-believeabullll...

peace yo,
-brian

i will comment more later, but it was nice to see all the chairs in use and thanks to anti-patti for a great video.. i'm glad a lot of people showed up.. maybe a few of them even donated more than a $1..
i do wonder though.. for the most part, the people who were there were those who already sympathized and "got" the point.. to be effective as an instrument of social change, the people least likely to show up for the fundraiser last night are those most desperately in need of seeing the film. i'm actually really stoked about the possibility of AMES doing PSAs. PSAs are essentially advertising, and because advertising is delivered in such a one-two punch to the subconscious and is over before you realize what you're watching, it's probably the most effective way of getting "radical" messages to the general populace. i hope that anti-patti considers doing a PSA, and as i said to brian, maybe something aimed at being part of a "life-skills" curriculum for high-school students. that doesn't necessarily mean "dumbing down" the message but instead figuring out a way to present the material in a way that effectively reaches teens while flying over the heads of parent-teacher associations that would no doubt have a hissy-fit over a lot of the imagery in SMP.
