YouthMADE: Media Arts Diversity Education
The YouthMADE resource packages are now available to teachers who would like to independently teach YouthMADE in their own classroom (i.e., without the facilitators). The resource packages include 6 ‘mini-docs’ that feature the YouthMADE videos and candid interviews with the students who made them, along with custom-made lesson plans, background material, links and facilitation tips.

This guide is by, for and about youth. Designed to accompany the documentary “Racism For Reel: Media for Change” this resource guide brings the issue of racism into the classroom to speak directly to youth.
It provides interactive exercises that help us begin to understand and overcome discrimination both inside and outside of the classroom.
It promotes the principle of peer education and encourages youth to actively listen to and learn from each other about this social problem that affects us all.

This guide is by, for and about youth. Designed to accompany the documentary “Outlet: Queer Youth Speak Up” this resource guide brings the issue of homophobia into the classroom to speak directly to youth.

This guide is by, for and about youth. Designed to accompany the documentary “Expressions of Aboriginal Youth” this resource guide brings issues affecting Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people into the classroom to speak directly to youth.
It provides interactive exercises that help us gain a better understanding of Canadian history and begin to overcome misunderstandings, prejudices and fears that adversely affect all Canadians. Promoting the principle of peer education, this guide encourages youth to actively listen to and learn from each other.
Smoke Screen 1: Anti-Smoking Ads By and For Girls
A tobacco prevention/cessation resource to help classroom teachers and community leaders keep young people from smoking or to help them stop smoking. This guide is designed to accompany the “Smoke Screen 1: Anti-Smoking Ads By and For Girls” documentary and public service announcements.
Although the focus is on girls and smoking, teens who view the material suggested that both boys and girls would benefit from viewing the documentary and participating in the learning activities.
Smoke Screen 2: Through the Eyes of New Canadians
A tobacco prevention/cessation resource to help English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers and community leaders keep youth from smoking or to help them stop smoking. This guide is designed to accompany the “Smoke Screen 2: Through the Eyes of New Canadians” documentary and public service announcements.
Although the focus is on immigrants and refugees (referred to in this guide as newcomers), all young people can benefit from viewing the documentary and participating in the learning activities. This resource guide is designed for grade 8 – 10 youth; however, feedback has shown that the lessons contained in this package may benefit younger students as well.
